Feature: Subatomic Strangers Decodes “The edge”

What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "The edge?"

We usually take our inspiration out of our daily lives. Specifically from experiences that we encounter. Our singer really likes motivational songs, and that’s why most of our songs tend to have a positive message. She also likes mystery, hence the mysterious and sultry sounding vocals. There wasn’t really a specific spark for the creation of “The Edge”, we usually create songs, or at least the instrumental, from jamming during practice.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this song?

There were specific parts of the song that were hard to record during the recording process. Some notable parts were that it took our guitarist 3 hours to complete the interlude of the song (the eastern part), as there are about 20 layers of different guitar sounds in that part alone. Also the drum fill at the end of the interlude was particularly hard to perfect. The song itself was mostly finished, but we still changed a lot of things during the recording sessions.

What impact do you hope "The Edge" will have on your audience?

We hope to inspire people to live more in the moment and to enjoy life to its fullest. This song also serves as inspiration for people to follow their intuition.
Also we hope that they will enjoy the song and be curious to discover our other upcoming songs of the new album.

How would you describe your band's overall stage presence and the energy you bring to your live shows?

We like to interact a lot with the public, when possible our guitarist likes to go into the crowd during a solo to vibe together with the audience. We like to use the stage and move into each other’s spaces to interact with each other while playing. We dance and move and make sure everyone is having fun. We always give 110%.

Are there any upcoming projects or releases that you're particularly excited about?

We are very excited about our new album that we are planning to release at the end of next year. And during this next year, we will release a couple of other singles and remakes of some older songs. We’re also very excited for the shows that we are planning for the coming year.
