Feature: Sorry Holly Decodes ‘Use Your Heart’
How did you come up with the theme?
The theme of this band is very nostalgic, writing heavily on missing old friends and the things you wish you said to someone close from a past life. It is difficult to carry the weight of the “could have, should have” mentality, and letting it go musically is so therapeutic.
What impact do you hope 'Use Your Heart' will have on your audience?
We hope people really relate when they hear this music and these words. It is just a fun way to let go and find some hidden truths deep down inside. We are here for ya.
Can you talk about any standout tracks on the album and what makes them special to you?
Our favorite tracks on the record probably would be either “Cauchy-Euler” or “How Fast Are You Going?”. Cauchy is about getting lost in your hopes and dreams, forgetting about the reality of life for a second to think big instead of feeling stuck. How Fast is our oldest song on the roster, and has taken so many shapes and forms throughout the years. This is the true final form of this song and it still sounds so new and fresh.
Can you tell us more about you as a band?
We are some pretty laid back dudes with a lot of silly things to say. We all became friends with our bands playing shows together over the years. Ryan, Jeff, and I bonded heavily over wrestling and Shreds videos (if you don’t know, do yourself a favor and find the Disturbed Shreds). Ryan joined our band in early 2024 and has felt like the most together it's been in years.
Can you walk us through your creative process when writing and composing music?
The funny part with the writing process is that the lyrics somehow always come first. I am always on my notes app on my phone putting in little one liners that come to me. From there, that kinda sets the mood and will start to do some guitar noodling while doing a somewhat “freestyle” of the lyrics. It all comes together somehow.
