Feature: Seßler/Zeeb Decodes “If No One”

What inspired you to write the lyrics/music for "If No One?"

I´ve (Kurt Seßler) had the music for the song for a while. It was always in the back of my mind that I wanted to release this song because I think it's just a very beautiful, touching harmony and melody.
But I wasn´t sure about the lyrics.
Then last year "Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles was played on the radio, a song about loneliness and isolation.
So I had the idea of the lyric for "If No One".
Don´t look away when others need your help.
So you can say the song lyric is an appeal für helpfulness, humanity and compassion in times that seem harder.
And I think, the lyrics fit the touching music very well.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "If No One?"

Yes, for me it was absolutely impressive how my partner "Werner Zeeb" (a multi-instrumentalist and producer) arranged the song.
This lovely playing in the verses and in contrast this powerful chorus with gospel choir and his fulminant guitar solo at the end of the song.

How do you feel this song represents your artistic identity?

We are very diverse as musicians because we also have a broad taste in music. A soft rock song like this also suits us well, it's music that we like with beautiful harmonies and melodies that catch the ear. But the next song will definitely be completely different because we like doing different genres.

What role do you feel emotions play in your music, and how do you channel them into your performances?

Music is pure emotion, sets vibrations and touches the soul.
You can put it like this quote from Paul McCartney:
“Music is a means for sadness – but also for joy. And when you can bring both extremes together, magic happens.”

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians who are just starting their musical journey?

Just keep at it, don't let setbacks get you down and always remember that if you enjoy it, that's the most important thing.
