Feature: Parmy Dhillon Decodes “India”
What was the creative process like for this particular song?
The process was something completely different, I had just lost my father and was writing all sorts of stuff, but nothing really interested me, I rewrote this song so many times, I was going for a certain feel and kept rewriting until I found it.
Could you discuss the lyrical themes or messages conveyed in "India?"
Yeah, for me, it's a song about connecting with who you are and where you're from. I know that was the biggest feeling I had when writing this, I just wanted to get to India to be with my dad, he had just passed away, and that's all I could think of.
Can you share any memorable experiences or stories from performing "India" live?
Launch night, the only time I've played it live was something special.
How did you get started in music, and what inspired you to become a singer-songwriter?
I've been writing since I can remember, I've just found it to be an easy way to express myself.
How do you balance crafting relatable stories with maintaining your unique voice as a songwriter?
I don't aim to craft relatable stories, I write for myself.
