Feature: Francesca Monte On the Making Of “Push and Pull ft. Fake Famili”
What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of “Push and Pull?”
FM (Francesca Monte): The initial spark for “Push and Pull” came from a place of exploring personal limits and the tension between my inner desires and the external world. I wanted to create something that felt empowering, a song that speaks to anyone who's ready to break free from fear and embrace their true potential. Working together helped shape this vision into a track with both emotional depth and energy, pushing the boundaries of self-expression. It’s about telling people it’s okay to be bold, to pursue your goals and desires without hesitation.
FF (Fake Famili): Our initial idea behind “Push And Pull” was to create a House Pop record that would show our creativity and our variety of taste in music. Also that we stepped out from our comfort zone. After we showed Francesca our demo, she was surprised by our creativity in how we wrote that demo.
We were really impressed by her style of writing and composing music that we started to collaborate.
Can you share any interesting or unique musical elements or production techniques used in “Push and Pull?”
FM: One of the most exciting elements of “Push and Pull” is the way we blended our emotionally charged lyrics, the top line and the innovative production. The combination of dynamic beats, deep basslines, and layers of synths really gives the track a unique energy. We wanted to make sure the rhythm grabbed you, but also that the melodies resonated emotionally. The way we built tension in the breakdowns before the drops really mirrors the theme of pushing through fear and embracing that powerful, unapologetic side of yourself. It’s a journey within a song.
FF: During the creative process of “Push and Pull” we had fun to play around synth to give the underground vibe by getting inspired by Fleur Shore and Carl Cox and many other artists.
What impact do you hope this single will have on your audience?
FM: We really hope that “Push and Pull” inspires listeners to break free from any limitations they might feel. Whether it’s fear, doubts, or societal pressures, this song is about shaking that off and pushing forward with confidence. I want people to feel empowered, motivated, and reminded that they have the courage to chase their dreams and live authentically. It’s an anthem for anyone who’s ready to embrace their true self, no matter what obstacles might come their way.
FF: We hope to get heard and recognized in the industry as DJs and producers and we hope that the audience likes our new record but importantly our sound.
What has been the most memorable experience or achievement in your music career so far?
FM: There have been so many moments that have shaped my career, but one that stands out is definitely when my EP ‘Alien’ reached the first position of the Electonic charts.
That recognition, especially being included in Apple Music’s New Music Daily playlist, was a huge moment of validation for me.
Every achievement is a reminder that the hard work and passion are paying off.
In February, I proudly launched my own label "EffeM Records". As a solo artist, I've reached incredible achievements, including over 14.1 million streams. Over the years, I've gained invaluable experience and honed my skills within the music industry. Now, I'm in a position to help emerging artists navigate this challenging industry, from the creative process to promotion. With my knowledge and experience, I'm dedicated to guiding them every step of the way, ensuring they have the support they need to succeed.
FF: The most memorable experience that we had when we organised our party and we created a good vibe for the people who like to party in the style of Fake Famili.
What do you enjoy most about performing live and connecting with your audience?
FM: Performing live is one of the most emotional and powerful experiences for me. The energy, the connection with my fans, and the way a song can come to life in that moment, it’s incomparable. I love seeing how the music resonates with people, whether they’re singing along or just vibing to the beat. That moment when you share something personal with the crowd and feel that mutual understanding or excitement is really special. It’s a bond that can only happen in a live setting, and that’s what keeps me coming back to the stage.
FF: This is the part that we enjoy the most. Share the stage together and share what we love the most by creating an alternative reality for our audience and let them forget the work routine.
