Feature: Electrons in Slow Motion Decodes “Tughra 0.04”

How does "Tughra 0.04" differ from your previous work?

Hi, there! As the concept of the entire series is based on freedom of sound expression and not on fixed concepts, I allow myself to create tracks that can stand alone without a narrative frame. They are like short dreams or inner trips. Regarding this fourth instalment,- “Tughra 0.04” - the main differences are the rhythm dynamic - stable and grounded - the harmonic warmth and the fact that is a more luminous route. I guess it could be considered a more approachable piece. And I really hope so.

Were there any specific recording techniques or equipment used to achieve the desired sound?

One of the peculiarities of the track is the way I’ve recorded the melodic line. Besides the electronics, my main instrument is the electric guitar. In this case, I have used two very different guitars, in consecutive recording days, as a question/answer game. Intentionally detaching myself from the previous “band member”. Trying to reply to myself, without imitation. Afterwards, an analog synth covered the steps to glue this dialogue.

How do you feel "Tughra 0.04" represents your artistic identity?

This series, that will end with the “0.09” piece, is designed to express my sonic signature as widely as possible. I explore zones that make me feel congruent with my core but that can reach places very far from it. “Tughra 0.04” does this, as well. It has kind of a straight drum beat, it has a steady backbone and engine, but the harmonics and overtones of the guitars are in an ascending and irradiating pulsation path. By the way, I am planning a post-metal track somewhere along the future of the "Tughra" sequence.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?

I have been around the music creation and business areas for more than two decades but my current main project, Electrons in Slow Motion. was initiated in 2015. Very close to its 10th anniversary right now. I’ve started with hip-hop, alternative and techno music, got through my post-rock years and now I am trying to enclose all my experiences in my current, more developed and inclusive style. Electronica, ambient, post-genres and sonic experiments. I am a “live” artist, a film composer and also a DJ. I like to express myself as broadly as I can, as long as the given work represents me. What is the meaning of all this profession if we are not playing, experimenting and having fun?! The artistic statement emanates naturally, it has its own life.

Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?

All around. Walking through the “garden of the world.” And then, dreaming with my eyes open spaces and journeys, based on what I’ve consciously or unconsciously absorbed. I strongly believe that we live on a wonderful Planet, with all the good and the bad. Inspiration is here for everyone. We just have to be aware and make something from it. And It all starts with the vibration of the first note recorded. The whole work will reveal itself, with our patience and trust efforts, along this subtle and extensive road.
