Feature: Archangel Decodes “From Hell to Heaven”
What was the creative process like for this particular song?
In the case of this song, the main structure was created 3 years ago. It lay and matured and fortunately when I looked at it a year ago I gave it a melody. At the end, I started writing lyrics to it. The bass lines offered to me by my colleague in the studio sounded much harder than what I played so I compromised.
Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this song?
I remember it was a hot summer's day and in the room for recording vocals it was so stuffy. We couldn't turn on the air conditioning then because it was too loud. I have a recording somewhere where I really feel it in my head while screaming.
What impact do you hope "From Hell to Heaven" will have on your audience?
It's hard to talk about a wide audience in my case but I see that it is my most played song. I have to admit that I heard many warm words from music critics and regardless of the rest of the circumstances, I feel fulfillment and that someone is waiting for the next songs. This is extremely motivating.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I was brought up on Polish punk where its reflection can be heard in my work. I listened to this kind of music throughout my childhood on cassettes - it then developed to much more violent sounds and emotions. I was later really inspired by a Hunter's concert which gave me such a kick into action and now here I am persuing my destiny.
Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?
The main inspiration is the broadly understood spirituality, an artificial religious division that only exists in our heads and we forget who we are really. My internal spiritual dilemmas and their influence on society - for me, music is also a philosophy. The pursuit of joy, harmony which is lined with fight in my case. It is difficult for me to be different since I was brought up in punk music. She came to my country from yours, for which I am grateful to you and I am proud to continue the rebellious journey of our generation.
