Feature: 3 Little Wolves Decodes “Second Hand”

What was the creative process like for this particular "Second Hand?"

After releasing our debut album, we decided to spend a few days in the countryside looking for new inspiration and ideas. “Second Hand” came out of that session and went from an acoustic demo to something a bit more fully formed.

Were there any challenges or breakthrough moments during the songwriting process for "Second Hand?”

Yeah, putting the breakdown in really changed the tempo and feel of the song, it added variety from what was a nice acoustic-based song into something a bit different.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "Second Hand?"

Putting the 'stop' in the middle of the song was interesting! It's something we still have when we play the song live and there's a bit of a 'cliff edge' moment when you hope everybody comes back in at the same time!

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

We are a 5 piece indie band based in Birmingham in the West Midlands. Second Hand is pretty typical of our stuff in that it's all pretty quirky, we don't write straightforward songs and none of them really sound like each other either!

Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?

We all have quite similar musical tastes, but there is enough difference between us to make out stuff sound quite unique. Our new album is going to be about the influences of social media on people and relationships, and Second Hand is the first example of that- it's about a couple sitting on the sofa, where one is just being ignored because the other is spending hours scrolling through their phone.
