Eddie King On the Making Of “Haunted”

What inspired you to write the lyrics/music for "Haunted?"

I was in a somewhat negative head space. I had a friend who had betrayed me. Hence the line "I didn't ask for your righteous indignation..."

This person felt "they" knew what was best for Eddie and it was none of their business. The rest of the song is like channeling it just comes to me. I can't explain it any other way.

What did you enjoy most about making this single?

The Recording Process, being in the moment of creation.
The song was done in one take. The vocal was never over-dubbed. The second guitar and drums were rerecorded later and I remastered it at my home studio.

How do you feel "Haunted" represents your artistic identity?

Oh, it's as much of me as anything but it's also not the only "sound" I have. This is just the first single for the LP which I'm looking to drop near the end of the year or the first part of 2025.

How did your band members initially come together?

Kevin, Brian and I have been together for three decades but we were also on different projects. We decided to be laser-focused and work on a three-LP long-term project. So Breaking Free is the title for the first LP forthcoming.

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced as a band, and how did you overcome them?

I think Covid was the worst as everything just stopped. So major plans were delayed greatly. I used that time to write more songs, trying to make the best of the situation.
