Kelowna, BC, Canada – Dan Tait (Kentucky Eileen, Tiger Moon), a musician based in West Kelowna, BC has released a brand new single just in time for summer road tripping. This release, entitled Rhonda Lake, will be his first release as a solo musician on all streaming platforms and has been long anticipated. It is the first of a series of 4 singles to come from Tait in 2024 as part of an expansive collection of his written works.

The song is an upbeat, driving folk song about his regular trips up to his local mountain to visit with friends and family who have passed on. While the premise sounds sad and introspective, the theme and feel of the song is celebratory. Tait, along with Kelowna producer & musician Andrew Judah (nightshades, Sounds Suspicious Collective), wanted to capture the jubilant feeling of embarking on the trip up the mountain to visit those that Tait has loved and lost.

“It’s a song about coming home - I’ve been coming to Rhonda Lake [at Big White Mountain] year after year to be with those I’ve lost over the years. Family, friends, everybody... They’re all up there, and I kind of like the idea that they know where to find me when they miss me, like I miss them,” says Tait about the song.

“I hope everyone has a place like Rhonda Lake... I’ve always believed that in loving one who has passed on, we have a responsibility to carry on their legacy, tell their stories. But even more, I think we should go visit them from time to time - for us, and maybe for them, too."

Dan adds that it feels good to be finally releasing his own music;

“I’ve released so many songs with other projects - Tiger Moon, Kentucky Eileen, - I’ve worked with dozens of other local artists and I’m proud of each and every one of them, but I ended up putting my own tunes on the back burner for awhile. It’s time for these songs to see some light, and I’ve had a lot of requests for these tunes. I am always writing, but it wasn’t until 2024 that I was able to find a co-producer that I love, and a comfortable studio to track these songs in.”
