DAAVRIL On the Making Of ‘REMOTION’

How does 'REMOTION' reflect your musical journey and growth as an artist?

I've written around fifty songs, and although at the beginning the lyrics were more about society and politics, and in a progressive rock style. However, over the years, I've worked more on my voice and I've also given in to expressing my emotions without fear, not hesitating to try my hand at different musical styles.

Could you discuss the lyrical themes or messages conveyed in 'REMOTION?'

All the lyrics are intimate and reflective. I evoke my past, my uncertainties, my frustrations, transmission and other very personal subjects. And to be more specific, I talk about my children, my parents, my family...

Which song(s) from the EP do you think best represents your artistic vision?

The tracks on ‘Remotion’ are all different, so it's hard for me to pinpoint the one that best represents my vision. However, I would highlight "Where are we now," and "In my heart," with their strong energies and intimate lyrics.

What do you enjoy most about performing live and connecting with your audience?

I've already done over a hundred concerts, and apart from the adrenalin boost, it's the exchange with the audience, the sense of connection and feeling their reactions and emotions.

How do you balance crafting relatable stories with maintaining your unique voice as a songwriter?

I conveyed my intimate emotions with sincerity and honesty, using my metaphorical style of writing, combined with strong melodies.
