(BR)OTHERS Releases "(Br)other" (Acoustic Version)

MINNEAPOLIS, MN UNITED STATES, AUGUST 25,2024 — Following the critical success of their debut single '(Br)other,' seasoned funk musicians Michael Bland and Sonny T have unveiled an acoustic version of the track, offering a more intimate and vulnerable take on their powerful collaboration.

A Legacy of Rhythm and Groove

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Michael Bland and Sonny T are a powerhouse rhythm section with a deep musical history. After their iconic years with Prince, the duo continued to make their mark, collaborating with artists ranging from French pop sensation France Gall to Nick Jonas & The Administration. Michael's drumming brilliance, characterized by his perfect pitch and innate ability to know every musician’s part, has made him a sought-after talent, working with names like Paul Westerberg, Mandy Moore, Clay Aiken, and the Backstreet Boys. Since 2005, he has been the steady rhythmic force behind Soul Asylum.

Sonny T's roots run deep in the Minneapolis music scene, with early stints in bands like Back to Black and The Lewis Connection. His talents caught the attention of Prince, who famously played guitar and sang backing vocals on Sonny’s track "Got To Be Something Here." Their bond, forged in the early days of Minneapolis funk, has only grown stronger over the years.

A Unique Creative Statement

For the first time, fans will experience the combined voices and original music of Michael and Sonny under the name (BR)OTHERS. This project is a unique creative statement, blending their decades of musical experience with fresh, innovative sounds. The sci-fi inspired name (BR)OTHERS, and the outer space imagery that accompanies it, is a nod to Prince's playful comment that Michael and Sonny were like aliens who "came to Earth in the same pod."

“Sonny is the closest thing I have to a brother in this world,” says Michael Bland, highlighting the deep bond that fuels their new collaboration.
