Beau Wheeler “Flying Colours”
Following the release of “Arizona,” “Flying Colours” marks the second single from Beau Wheeler’s new album. With an inspiring tone that’s full of hope, the triumphant title song reminds of you the feeling of being at the best of time. Everyone needs to feel like a winner sometimes, and “Flying Colours” makes you feel like a king/queen.
Coming out from the dark and into the light, the sonic palette of “Flying Colours” too follows a beautiful transcendence, gifting listeners a meaningful and euphoric experience hard to forget.
“‘Flying Colours’ is a comeback song,” said Wheeler. “It’s a song I wrote while I was going through treatment for cancer. I was thinking about a time when I could play music at shows with my friends again. I just wanted to be one of the people out there making music. Now when I play it, it seems to really resonate with people because everyone seems to need a comeback song right now. This is a beautiful time for the arts, like a flowering of culture. Lots of difficult things are happening, but also lots of amazing things. I also came out as trans during the pandemic. This song is super gay.”
The emergence of the new meets the nostalgic of the old in an unexpected way. Fused with diverse sonic personalities and rich atmosphere, “Flying Colours” essentially draws back to the highs and lows in life and stirs a resonance amongst listeners, sealing Wheeler as one of Canada’s brightest rising star to watch. “Flying Colours” touches on themes such as love, loss and redemption, but at core, it’s about resilience and perseverance. Despite all odds, one would always find a way to go on and fight for what one loves and deserves.
