Bastie “Trouble”

If music has the power to move a mountain, then “Trouble” would definitely be on the soundtrack while it happens. Bastie, the former “BBC Introducing Artist of the Week” is releasing an intoxicating single “Trouble” ahead of playing main-stage festival slots. Recorded with long-time collaborator Nick Brine (Arctic Monkeys, Oasis), the tearjerking single that tackles love and addiction was selected as a finalist for the UK Songwriting Competition.

Intoxicating, there’s no better word to describe the grand and intricate feelings evoked by Bastie’s music. Even though he adheres to the basic guitar-voice singer-songwriter form, his music has a speck of magic that makes you tear up. While the melodies find a way into your heart and brain. You’d want to shout out and sing along with Bastie at the festivals.

And luckily, Bastie was scheduled to perform at a string of festivals with main stage slots, including Pub in the Park, Lakefest, Boardmasters, Mcfly, Carfest North & South and The Lightning Seeds this year. Speaking about his debut main-stage set at Pub in the Park, Bastie revealed, “Heading up to the main stage was a bizarre experience: I had a shot of sloe gin with the host, tv’s Andy Clarke, to ease the nerves and then just went up and played. After the first song, all the tension was gone and I loved every second up there. I was on a complete high afterwards, which was heightened when I got to hang out with The Lightning Seeds and Mcfly before their sets. Perhaps, one of the most surreal moments of the day was walking out of my tent to see my father chatting with Mcfly’s Danny about various hair products!”

The artist is currently working on his debut EP with Florence + the Machine’s producer Brett Shaw. The first single is set to be released very soon.
