Audra Watt Releases “Daffodils”

Audra Watt, a talented artist hailing from Nashville, United States, has teamed up with Mary Browder and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Rebecca Lynn Howard to create her original single, "Daffodils." With Howard's impressive track record of chart-topping hits and collaborations with music legends like Dolly Parton, the songwriting process was infused with depth and artistry. Multi-instrumentalist Spencer Broschard, based in Nashville, played a pivotal role by adding his musical touch through guitar, piano, and keys, as well as overseeing production, mixing, and mastering for a polished and heartfelt sound.

Set to be released on the 21st of March 2025, Audra Watt's single "Daffodils" is a poignant composition aimed at providing comfort to those facing challenging circumstances, especially individuals battling illnesses like Cancer. Inspired by a hymn-like melody, the song seeks to offer solace and hope to listeners in their times of struggle. The track, conceived in March 2023 in response to a heartfelt video about a cancer diagnosis, serves as a reminder that even in the darkest moments, hope is a constant presence, ready to uplift and inspire. Audra's musical journey, starting in her 40s, is a testament to unexpected growth and resilience, beautifully encapsulated in the metaphorical "early bloom" depicted in her moving lyrics.

What's the story behind this release?

We wrote this song in March of 2023 the day after Kate Middleton’s heartfelt video announcing her cancer diagnosis was released. My co-writer Mary mentioned how poetic it was given that she was placed outside with a field of daffodils blooming behind her—a symbol of hope embraced by cancer support groups worldwide. At the time I had no idea that the Daffodil was a symbol for cancer support and having faced chronic illness myself, I connected with that image. As the three of us shared stories of struggle and resilience, we connected on those shared experiences into a song "Daffodils" that reminds us all that even in the darkest moments, hope is never far away.

Tell us what makes this release stand out and why it's significan

What makes Daffodils stand out is that I wrote it and want to release it right now in 2025 because I believe the world needs hope and beauty more than ever. With so much suffering around us, I wanted to create a reminder that focusing on the future—and on those who have "lived to tell about it"—can provide strength. I especially hope this song reaches anyone recently diagnosed with cancer or facing a life-altering illness, when the pain of treatment and isolation can make it hard to imagine stepping onto green grass again. This track is my heartfelt reminder that even in the darkest moments, hope is within reach.

What was unique about the recording process?

I am not a super seasoned vocalist - I really just started focusing on singing about a year ago and so the art of recording is still pretty new to me. Spencer not only was a recording and production engineer, but since he is also a vocalist and artist, his coaching helped me feel supported and as a result I felt like I could open up my voice in a new way.

Could you share a memorable quote about this release or your journey as an artist?

"I wanted to release Daffodils because in 2025, the world needs hope and beauty more than ever. This song is my heartfelt reminder to anyone facing a life-altering diagnosis that even in the darkest times, the strength to overcome and the promise of brighter days are within reach." — Audra Watt

Is there anything additional that would be valuable for curators to know?

I'm Audra Watt—a late bloomer who found her creative voice in her 40s. In Daffodils, I sing about an "early bloom" as a metaphor for unexpected growth and resilience. Even though I started my musical journey later in life, this song is a celebration of new beginnings and a reminder that hope and beauty can emerge, inspiring us all to thrive regardless of our timing.
