Artist Spotlight: Meet Nysiādes

How did everything come together?

The whole process was very fast and unexpected. We all come from completely different backgrounds, but there was an instant connection, musically and personally. Without overthinking it, we started performing together as Nysiādes, and that chemistry pushed us to take things a step further. That’s when it became clear that what we’ve built was not just a one-off collaboration. It was the beginning of something much bigger. And this is just the start of the journey.

Is there a particular message or theme you hope listeners take away from ‘Apocalypse?’

‘Apocalypse’ is about transformation. About standing at the edge of something uncertain and choosing to move through it. We wrote it from a place of emotional honesty: from moments of collapse, clarity, and deep connection. At its core, it's about finding strength in vulnerability, and in the relationships that hold us up when everything else feels like it’s falling. We hope it inspires listeners to take that leap of faith, to embrace change, and to seek out the deeper meaning and connection in their own lives.

What did you enjoy most about making this EP?

Honestly, the process itself. There was a deep sense of trust and openness in the room, and that allowed us to be fearless with ideas. We loved watching how our individual influences like Rebecca’s flute, Yiolanda’s mandolin Francesca’s powerful voice and toplines, Elena’s production and composition, could blend into something that felt so unified. Creating ‘Apocalypse’ was as much about the journey together as the final product.

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

As Nysiādes, we take our name from the Oceanid nymphs of Mount Nysa who were figures of transformation, rhythm, wild beauty and ecstatic dance. That mythology really resonated with us. We wanted something that spoke to the kind of energy we bring: feminine, raw, rooted, but also forward-looking. We each come from very different musical backgrounds, and somehow it all clicked. Francesca brings this powerful presence and emotional depth in her amazing voice and lyrics. Elena builds the sonic world around it and always pushes sounds forward while keeping a sense of honesty and feeling. Rebecca brings a lightness and flow with her flute, and Yiolanda grounds everything with earthy, melodic textures through her strings. It’s like we each hold a different element, but together, it becomes something full, emotional, and alive.

Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?

We find inspiration in a lot of places, stories, landscapes, memories, silence, and of course, sound. A big part of it comes from within: from whatever emotional space we’re each in at that moment, and the need to turn that into something that can resonate with others. But we also draw from the world around us. From the rhythms of different cultures, a conversation with someone, a memory from our family, the textures of organic instruments, the space between tradition and modernity. That’s really where our sound comes alive: in those moments where we’re bridging inner emotion with outer experience, old worlds with new ones.
