What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "17 Million Fucking Flies?"

My son and I were discussing an idea for a movie script about a busy career woman, trying to escape everyday stress by fulfilling a romantic dream of becoming and author, only to discover that she was unable to escape her own disturbed mind. While we were sitting there, in the sun, the flies started buzzing around our heads. And as is typical for my son, he grabs his phone, and Googles "how many flies are there per person in the world?". He looked at me and said "17 Million Fucking Flies!" That`s the start of it:)

Were there any challenges or breakthrough moments during the songwriting process for this song?

The first challenge was actually finding the right melody for the chorus. And when it hit me, we were on a freeway in Sweden. My husband had to stop the car and get out, so that I could record it on to my phone. The next challenge was finding the right mood for it. 3 demos were made, but I wasn’t happy with any of them. But when Kristoffer Lo found the opening sound of the song, along with that original beat, and he started hammering his finger on that one note, I knew we had it.

How do you feel "17 Million Fucking Flies" represents your artistic identity?

"17 Million Fucking Flies" is definitely one of my songs that I relate most to, artistically. The fact that it describes my personality so well, lyrically, and in its expression, makes it a good example of how my songwriting has developed in recent years, and where I feel at home expressively. I simply love the song.

How do you balance crafting relatable stories with maintaining your unique voice as a songwriter?

I find it important to write something that I can relate to. I need to feel it. I never think about what´s trending, or try to impress anyone. And it´s the same way when it comes to the arrangements. I am trusting my gut feeling. I think that is the only way of finding your unique voice as an artist.

Are there any upcoming projects or releases that you're particularly excited about?

My album ‘The Struggle For Peace Of Mind,’ has just been released, friday 12. April, so I am very excited about that. I hope you will check it out.
