Artist Spotlight: Meet Gender Reveal Atomic Bomb

Can you share any interesting or unique stories or perspectives on "Generation Atomic Bomb?"

The concept for the song emerged during a heat wave last summer in California. We were staying at a family cabin in a rural area. No AC, fans, or even internet, so we had to find a way to beat the boredom and heat. What better way than a cool new single? ;) The two characters in the song are loosely based on us.

Were there any challenges or breakthrough moments during the songwriting process for "Generation Atomic Bomb?"

When Beau was writing it at the cabin, he didn’t have any instruments with him, so he composed the song structure in his head. Also, the subtle hum-like melody at the end of the song was added just an hour before the song was completed and exported.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "Generation Atomic Bomb?"

Some of the recordings were done in a Belgian castle. To add to the authenticity of Blaise’s screams, Beau would jump in front of her to startle her while she was recording. We also got a friend to record their cat’s meowing and purring, and we incorporated that into the song.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?

We have been making music and performing since we were little kids, but mostly just for our parents. Beau started piano lessons at age seven and began composing around that time. He started playing bass at 14. Blaise played drums throughout childhood and started singing at 13 when we created our first single, Abducted by Aliens.

Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?

Rebellion, injustice, anger, self-expression, and the experience of being a teenager growing up in this day and age. We write about personal and political issues and take inspiration from the punk rock DIY ethic.
