Artist Spotlight: Meet Galaxy Thief

Is there a person/event that stimulated the creation of "Last Chance?"

“Last Chance” was originally written by lead guitarist George during the week of the onset of the Ukraine war. It attaches to the themes of standing up to an enemy and defending what matters to you, so subsequently could be applied to a situation between you and someone you care about.

Were there any challenges or breakthrough moments during the songwriting process for "Last Chance?"

There was one moment during the tracking stage when things seemed to come together even more. We were struggling with a melody for the pre-chorus right up to the final recording stage so we decided to make it a big, ethereal section with choir vocals, marching snare drums and ambient noises to really build tension for the chorus.

How do you feel "Last Chance" represents your artistic identity?

“Last Chance” closes off the 5 tracks that we had planned for the year and we feel that it really encompasses the gritty rock element of our sound whilst also maintaining the commercial credibility we’re always striving for in our music.

How would you describe your band's overall stage presence and the energy you bring to your live shows?

We put so much time into our live show because we believe people listen with their eyes as much as their ears. We always try our best to look as enthusiastic on stage as the tracks actually sound to ensure the audience really get an entertaining experience. It is definitely a workout every time we play, thats for sure!

What has been one of the highlights of your music career so far?

A huge highlight for us was playing on a Glastonbury stage for the Pilton Party 2023, to 8000 people! It was a huge festival stage and we had so much freedom to run around and really put on a show for everyone (check out our YouTube channel for the live footage). But the best is yet to come, including an indoor show with Jake Bugg at the start of December!
