Artist Spotlight: Meet Electric Rime

What was the creative process like for this particular song "Tales?"

Alina: It was just a piano and vocals at first, then we just started playing it all together at the rehearsal, trying different approaches and eventually it became what you can hear now. But it has become much darker and groovier than the initial version.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "Tales?"

Alina: We started recording “Tales” just a week before the full-scale war in Ukraine started. We managed to record drums and guitars and when the war started we all had to flee to different places and were able to return to the recording process only in several months’ time. I had to move to London temporarily so I recorded the vocals there - at Rogue Recordings studio. Mixing and mastering were done in Kyiv.

How does "Tales" fit into your overall artistic vision and what can listeners expect from you in the future?

Alina: I think “Tales” has captured our sound pretty well. All the melancholy, the groove.. So listeners can expect something similar in our upcoming EP which is planned to be released this spring.

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

Alina: We are a 4-piece indie/alternative band from Kyiv, Ukraine with Alina on vocals and keys, Roma on guitar, Max on bass and Jim on drums.

We love what we do and our happiest moment is seeing how the idea turns into a song, when all the pieces come together and in that moment it feels like it’s our best song so far. This is a great feeling. Nothing can beat that.

Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?

Alina: Actually, it is everything around us - people, places…
But as we currently live in an active war zone, the war has a huge impact on everything we do. When you live in times like this, the best thing you can do is try to put your feelings into songs so that you can share it with the rest of the world and feel like you are not alone and that you have support.
