Anna Thoresen On the Making OF “LONELY”
What was the creative process like for this particular single?
I started writing this song on my guitar about a year ago in my room. Slowly I started the production on it, and every so often I would go into the session I made for this song and work on it. I didn’t completely finish the track until a few weeks ago!
Can you talk about the recording and production process for "LONELY?"
I don’t really have a process, I just write the song on my guitar and try to best emulate how I hear it in my head. I do everything in the comfort of my own home and by myself so things are always very chill.
How do you feel "LONELY" represents your artistic identity?
“LONELY” is really important to me because it feels like the first time I’m being really vulnerable in my work. Sonically and lyrically this song is how I feel and I’m proud of myself for being able to make my vision come to life, even if it’s not the most professional sounding.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?
I grew up in a town called Colts Neck, NJ around nobody that was interested in music beyond being your average listener. I did musical theater occasionally, but I really never wrote music or got interested in making my own until I tried to pursue it professionally. I felt a huge lack of creative freedom which pushed me to make my own music, and I’ve been doing that ever since.
What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced as a musician, and how did you overcome them?
Every song I make is a new challenge for me. I’m always trying to push myself to new lengths to see how much I can accomplish on my own. Usually my issues come with the project getting buggy due to technology doing its thing, but a simple YouTube or Google search can usually fix my problems!
