VAN ELST “Où es-tu”

VAN ELST delivers a nuanced and intricate soundscapes with “Ou es-tu,” in which Eldorado’s ethereal vocals wrapped in bright contrasts between a deep-sounding bass and grooming surroundings. The soundscapes move like clouds. The romantic sonic palettes sneak in and out, spreading out like smokes, with flowing melodic passages glisten in sun-gazed colors.

Between euphoria and melancholy, “Ou es-tu” communicates loneliness with great sensitivity and empathy, speaking out about the unspoken sides of mental heath. “I can’t find my way back home, lately,” “I’ve been feeling so alone.” The track takes listeners on an emotional roller coaster with great subtlety. At times, the hope and light makes you feel at the top of the world, like everything will be ok, but the darkness and shadow also creeps in at times, attacking your vulnerable side.

VAN ELST’s music articulate the extreme up and downs, creating awareness and understanding of humanly relatable struggles. The electronic dream pop artist really gets into to core of these experiences and recreate the taste with his unique sensitivity and compassion. “Ou Es-Tu” feels like a hug and a therapeutic talk that you could open yourself and be safe in while communicating those experiences that at times seem hard to express in words.

“Ou Es-Tu” makes you ache as the vocalist expresses those most personal feelings and experiences though it might not be explicit. It speaks to something that everyone can understand and relate to, and VAN ELST’s music itself is done with great aesthetics. Though the track explores a very intimate experience, it’s wonderfully epic.
