Olle Boerg “Funk In My Mind”
At first, “Funk in My Head” sounds like any other techno track that plays around color palette in a night setting, but let it sits with you for a while, and it'll totally blow your mind. Olle Boerg is an artist with fewer words in terms of music making, but ever sound in there is intricate and fascinatingly stimulating.
The way Boerg introduces a new sound is very worth pondering upon, but he made it feel so effortless and smooth. They are like the surprises that are waiting for you to explore. You know they’ll be there, but they never disappoint. Expectation is the hardest thing to surpass, but everytime Boerg brings something new into the mix, you just want to applaud for it. Some of them are tangible (like bees flapping their wings, approaching in an unthreatening way, or an object orbiting the moon). It evokes some very interesting imageries in your head, and not every time is the same. The bee imagery at second time hearing could very well feel like a LED light, or the surface of the sun. It's fascinating how the track stimulates your brain. Like a massage.
Then the budding sounds dances together in an euphoric, joyful manner. “Funk in My Head” has all the elements for happiness concentrated there. It simply makes you feel joyful. You could almost get a humming as it kicks off a cool new beat. It's quite obvious how much Olle Boerg enjoyed making the track. You could almost hear everytime he cooks up a new rhythm, having a new sound “approaching” in your ears in a stylist slide like the century’s best dancer.
Its such a powerful and pleasant listening experience. And frankly, that's how his music feels like — almost in the mood, grooving and experimenting.
