mUmbo “Don't Even Mind The Rain”

Sweet sorrow meets melancholy optimism in mUmbo’s “Don’t Ever Mind the Rain,” speaking of a retro, shoe gazing vibe that takes you on a spin in the refreshing, spirit-healing rain. Like a ritual that blossoms new understanding and new life, “Don’t Ever Mind the Rain” is a song that changes the way you feel regardless of your previous mood.

Like a sweeter version of Patti Smith, Emma Semple’s vocal style is like poetry sitting down in sultry entrancement. Her floral vocal is inviting and ever-changing. Like the dandelion blew into the wind, her voice feels like an intimate whisper and the melancholy clouds at times in the windy guitar.

“Don’t Even Mind the Rain” is between edgy, fun, personality and entrancingly healing. Rusty slide guitar intertwined with a storyteller fiddle. The track balances rainy ambiance with storytelling in the exploration of themes like hope, love and regret. “The bees ain’t gonna sting.” It also involves a sense of playfulness in its dreamful, ritual-like psychedelic soundscapes.

mUmbo is in collaboration with Italian-based virtuoso drummer Antonio Dale for “Don’t Even Mind the Rain,” the third single released this year. Nothing can hide the vibe of a fun jam fueled with diverse influences and fun explorations. It’s everchanging, aesthetic, atmospheric with intimacy and nuance. Semple, being the lead vocalist, certain feels like the needle that sews the piece together. While the three equally adding up to an imaginative, textural mood.
