C.S. Fulp “Burnout”

C. S. Fulp is a name that deserves your attention. The Texas-based multi-instrumentalist and sing-songwriter constructs something quite unlike the others and sonically hard to pinpoint. His music explores a wrenching vulnerability that feels so fresh and immediate with the blood and flesh out in the open, but it’s sensitive and sensual. It’s undefined and inclusive.

Balancing out a washed-out shoe gazing guitar and reverberant smooth vocal that gives full extend to an intricate melancholy vibe as well as laying back in a distance, “Burnout” has an ever-expanding aesthetic. The conflict or the confrontation of two opposites is quite surprising. Utopia and dystopia, creation and destruction, sensitivity and complexity — these straightforward smashed-up confrontation to be so artistically examined within the song form is not something we could hear each day.

The track finds its theme at the crossroads of adolescence and adulthood, exploring the theme of emotional fatigue and the pursuit of depth. Every sound that C.S. Fulp created is highly relatable and artistically fascinating. He builds a world into the exploration of uncertainty and nostalgia, seeing the two weaving into a beautiful explosion.

The way “Burnout” presents itself feels poetic and deadly romantic. It’s more like a form of art, an elegant sonic sculpture that consciously and subconsciously reflects something precious with a time stamp, though the art itself is timeless. There’s a seriousness in “Burnout” that addresses a bigger theme than personal emotions and experiences. It almost feels like an imprint of the artist’s work to comprehend the world on a grand level.
