ANIMATE “The Colour Of A New Day” - Review

ANIMATE has been quietly releasing atmospheric folk rock songs this year, but their most recent acoustic track “The Colour of a New Day” is something else. Good music hardly requires much explanation. Their power lays within the melodies and lyrics, and everyone with a pair of ears could hear it and feel it. A good song makes you feel more alive than ever, and that’s what the music duo ANIMATE achieved in “The Colour of a New Day.”

A blend of intense emotions, thoughts, and visions become the sophisticated, passionate sonics that haunt you to your core. In the clear and warm tone of an acoustic guitar, the ascending chord progression paints the image of a rising sun, evoking a sense of new hope. The lead singer’s story-infused vocal is being at the forefront of the song with the quality of a naked vulnerability. He draws listeners into the beautiful duality of peace and intensity.

There’s a very palpable emotional urgency being communicated through the song, even though the undertone stays grounding and earthy. Meaningful lyrics address relatable feelings and thoughts about life, mistakes, and regrets being filtered through heartfelt melodies. The mending of word and music seems effortless, like it was poured out from them with two combined lifetimes of musical memory.

“The Colour of a New Day” bears tearjerking quality if you open your heart and let yourself feel. It’s like a ritual that cleanses the unwanted energy and unresolved issues, the wonderfully intense song takes you through the journey of rebirth and light up your world. A touch of that electrified spark in a predominantly acoustic guitarscape is very satisfying and refreshing. Up till that point, the music was desiring something more, and ANIMATE delivered it with perfection.
