5 Q&A With The Dinosaur’s Skin
Can you tell us about the inspiration behind "Meteor Shower" and the story it tells?
This song is a love song about destiny and perspective, told through two romantic stories: one from the eyes of asteroids, wondering if one of them will hit Earth, and the other from dinosaurs watching the meteor shower, completely unaware it might end their world. It’s two completely different ways of looking at love and fate—vast and fleeting, beautiful and devastating.
How do you feel this song represents your artistic identity?
It’s all about perspective. A song and a story can mean different things depending on who—or what—is listening. Asteroids, dinosaurs, humans—we’re all connected by a romantic tale, by music. For us, as dinosaurs, we’ve always felt a little out of place, but we believe that beneath our skin, our hearts beat the same as everyone else’s, and it is ok to be different.
What was your favorite moment in making the music video?
Amber, our goddess, was stunning—Tri had these beautifully romantic scenes with her. Meanwhile, I was off riding a lawnmower, feeling like the world’s biggest third wheel. But that’s what makes it fun: the balance of epic romance and ridiculous chaos, a bit like the world we live in.
What has been the most memorable experience or achievement in your music career so far?
Playing shows around the world—Austin, New York, Paris, Bangkok, Singapore—and finding dinosaur friends in the crowd, especially at SXSW, has been surreal. Our dream is to find all the remaining dinosaurs on Earth through music. Being nominated for the Golden Melody Awards, basically Taiwan’s Grammys, was also a huge moment for us.
How do you approach the process of creating a new song or melody?
I usually start with a memory—something from our prehistoric days—and then try to turn it into a story humans can relate to. It’s about spreading peace and love, reflecting on identity and destiny, and finding joy in the process. And if it makes you dance or cry a little, all the better.
