5 Q&A With Proxevita

What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of “Peace is Possible Shoegaze Disco Remix?”

The initial spark came from our belief that peace is not only possible but necessary—and that music can be a transformative force to unite people. The remix was inspired by the desire to blend genres and create something that captures both the dreamy introspection of shoegaze and the kinetic energy of disco. It’s about turning introspection into action, inviting listeners to reflect and dance simultaneously, amplifying the idea that peace can begin within and ripple outward.

Can you share any interesting or unique musical elements or production techniques used in this remix?

We experimented with layering lush, reverberant guitar textures typical of shoegaze with driving disco-inspired basslines and rhythms to create a unique contrast. Vocally, we added subtle harmonic echoes to represent a collective voice for peace. We also used analog synths to weave a warm, nostalgic soundscape, complemented by modern electronic production techniques in Endless FM to bring a fresh edge.

What impact do you hope “Peace is Possible Shoegaze Disco Remix” will have on your audience?

We hope this remix inspires our audience to find hope and action in unity. It’s meant to energize and empower listeners while fostering introspection about their role in creating peace—whether that’s within their communities, relationships, or even themselves. We want it to be a soundtrack for both reflection and celebration:)

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

Proxevita is more than a band; we are a collective of dreamers and doers blending electronic dream pop, shoegaze, grunge and sound healing to amplify messages of resilience, unity, and sustainability. Our work bridges music, activism, and community building. From our policy delegation work with the Arts & Culture Working Group to performing on international stages at the United Nations COP29 with Climate Live to collaborating on reforestation initiatives with the Southside Food Forest, we aim to harmonize creativity, entertainment and education with social impact.

How do you continuously grow and evolve as a band?

Our growth definitely comes from our willingness to adapt and stay true to our purpose. We draw inspiration from the diverse global communities we connect with, exploring how music intersects with sustainability, human rights, and cultural advocacy. Collaborating with like-minded partners like Climate Live and international artists experimenting with genres, and engaging in meaningful projects keeps us evolving. At the heart of it, our growth is rooted in our audience—who continues to be our greatest inspiration.

Jovan "Chronos" our newest member and drummer also brings fresh expertise in everything from Jazz to Metal to Country. Our first time gigging and playing together was actually for the Film Village Birthday Celebration at UNCSA in Winston-Salem, NC USA where Proxevita performed alongside and with the UNCSA jazz band! Jovan of course was a fish to water on the drums!
