5 Q&A With Proklaim

Can you tell me more about “THIEVES?”

“Thieves” is basically a commentary. It's a reflective piece in which I sought to express my thoughts on life. It's simply expression.

Was there any challenge that you encountered while making the track?

The song was quite straightforward to make. I selected a beat from those I'd recently purchased online. I started by laying a hook that was inspired by what the beat brought to my mind..then wrote the verses and layed them.

How do you feel "THIEVES" represents your artistic identity?

“Thieves” is as true to my identity as can get as it is an extension of some of the things I often find myself pondering in my own mulling as I take in life and existing in the generation I do right now.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they impacted your own sound?

Hiphop captivated my imagination and stirred me from when I first heard it as a kid. Over the years numerous artists got my attention, but if I were to highlight inspirations in the genre it would be: Notorious Big, Nas, Big Punisher, Tupac and Lauryn Hill.

How do you continuously grow and evolve as an artist?

I have found remaining true to the prompting and urges to create and write (and loving it) are what have yielded alot of growth. Remaining consistent with those simple prompts and being diligent is what I have seen continue to yield creative growth.
