Timothy and the Apocalypse “Ego”

Timothy and The Apocalypse’s music serves as a perfect symbol that compresses much deeper messages. Extending beyond the limitation of lyrics, “Ego” swings back and forth with several different ideas that seem very well preserved in the music form of Fragment, a journal of Timothy’s journey retreating to nature from the noisy dystopian world.

At first “Ego” gives out an intense vibe. The rhythm carries too much energy that it feels intense. As the song progresses, listeners would find that instead of anxiety (as expected in modern life), the intensity comes from the raw life force itself when you return to nature. There’s so much inspiration and energy that are interweaving, exchanging and flowing around the space. It’s spirited and it’s uplifting.

Then the peace and love sink in as the noises clear out the gloominess that has you cluttered. There’s refreshment and freedom in the sound that feels so limitless, like you can expand yourself, indefinitely. The therapeutic aspect also comes into play as the song dives deeper into its sonic universe. And then, there is joy. It’s singing and it’s raining from each and every sound.

One idea that’s intriguing to investigate is if the intensity that listeners perceive at first also represents the egoistic presence that we have. But regardless, the listening experience provided in “Ego” is undressing layers of noise, chaos and modernity and returning, rediscovering something worth our heart and soul.
