Watch: Jigsaw and Amanda Returns in Saw X Trailer

Even in his grave, Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) still manages to haunt the living, and Saw X will see him return. The first official trailer of the tenth installment in the Saw franchise is here.

Helmed by franchise veteran Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw IV and Saw: The Final Chapter and served as editor for the first five installments and Jigsaw 2017, Saw X will follow a sick and desperate John as he travels to Mexico for a risky procedure only to discover it to be a scam to defraud the most vulnerable.

Bell originated the role in 2004, but the character died in the third film of the franchise. Even so, Jigsaw continues to be a driving creative force behind the events in the following films and appears in the franchise through pieces of flashbacks.

Bell reprises his role role as the series killer kidnapper in the upcoming film, along with Shawnee Smith, who played Amanda Young in Saw III.

Set between the events of the first two movies, the exact details are currently under tight wraps, but Lionsgate has promised fans that the Saw X will capture “everything Saw fans loved about the franchise,” with “all-new traps and a new mystery to solve.”

Saw is considered as one of the most labyrinthine chronologies in modern franchise filmmaking. The 10th installment arrives only two years after the previous, Spiral: From the Book of Saw.

The rest of the cast include Steven Brand, Synnøve Macody Lund, Michael Beach, Renata Vaca, Paulette Hernandez, Octavio Hinojosa and Joshua Okamoto. Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger are joining Greutert as writers, while Daniel J. Heffner, Ketura Kristin and James Wan executive produce.

Saw X is set to hit theaters on Sept. 27, 2023.
