Adapted from Alice Oseman’s webcomic of the same name, the first season of Heartstopper followed a teen’s journey as he fell in love with his classmate. The Netflix show was an instant hit when it premiered in spring 2022 with a total of 53 million viewing hours in its first month. Heartstopper also remained one of the hottest trending topics on Twitter (X) even months after its premiere.

Unlike the heart-wrenching toxicity and love triangles found in other coming-of-age shows (like Euphoria), Heartstopper is celebrated for its uplifting plots and love-filled joy.
