Daisy Jones & The Six writer Scott Neustadter and executive producer Lauren Neustadter are not ruling out the possibilities for Season 2. In fact, they revealed that the age jump in the season 1 finale left plenty of room for stories.

Initially, they planned a real-life Daisy Jones & the Six concert, but the plan was scrapped due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The Neustadters said that they still hoped to make it a reality one day. “We’re not giving up,” Lauren told Variety. “I believe they will perform, the question is when.’

Daisy Jones was billed as a limited series, but according to the couple, there is still plenty of space for stories left in Taylor Jenkins Reid’s original script, and in fact, the season finale, where Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne fast forward into their 40s for a reunion, was “a calculated move.” “If any time Amazon came to us and said, ‘what would it be?.’ we would put our little thinking caps on about it,” said Lauren. Scott then added, “It’s super fun to sit and talk to Taylor for hours about where we think we could take this next. It was a calculated move to move (the flash-forwards) to their 40s. There’s a lot of life left to live, so there could be a future.”

Like any other adaptations, the couple faced a series of challenges while transforming Reid’s original manuscript into a series. One of the biggest they faced was the music, which was at the core of the show. “How are we going to make this music that keeps being referred to in this book as timeless and extraordinary? The bar is super high to convince everyone watching that like, this is not just a real band, but a great real band,” said Scott.

Making Daisy Jones was more than just a show for the couple. It was more of a family affair, and the show was like their own dream come true. If given a chance, they would love to jump back into the story and make a sequel. “It was the greatest. It was awesome to get to work on something together that we cared about so much. And to really be such a team. I feel like now as I watch the show, every frame is so special because we did it together. What a dream.”
