How Billie Eilish ‘HIT ME HARD AND SOFT’ Becomes A Global Sensation

Today, the most popular songs have become a crucial component of social media reels, and speaking about reels, even if you’re not a Billie Eilish fan, you have been forcedly exposed to HIT ME HARD AND SOFT through social media.

Personally, I love the album. As soon as it came out, it’s been on my heavy replay list. I’ve listened to every single song so many times, and I’ll admit that I haven’t been much of a Billie Eilish fan prior to HIT ME HARD AND SOFT. This is the album that got me into her music in a more die hard fan mood, and to be honest, this might have been the poppest album she has ever made.

And it kind of worked.

I’m not a social media person, but most of my friends are. And hardly anyone has really gone on Spotify to listen to that album. When I told them about HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, they brushed me off by saying that it’s something their gothic little sister would be into. And you can imagine my reaction catching them “listening” to her latest album.

And they look back at me with innocent eyes.

“What are you talking about?”

It turns out that they’re just swiping reels on Tik Tok and Instagram. From celebrity posts to popular Tik Tok reels, Billie Eilish’s new album has been taking over social media platforms. Her songs are no longer songs to listen to in full, but rather 10-second snapshots.

And they are perfect.

It’s hip and breathy and unique enough. At the same time, catchy, but not in a cliche poppy way. The sonic elements in her songs tend to leave an impression.

It’s pop, but not too pop.

It’s indie but has the global appeal.

And all my friends are being forced to listen to it.

Before they know it, everyone has fallen victim to HIT ME HARD AND SOFT.

Sadly, the rule of music has changed.

It’s about the reels now. Spotify is already old.
