Angus Cloud, Euphoria Star, Dies at 25
Angus Cloud died Monday in Oakland, California at 25. According to the Oakland Fire Department, they received a 911 call made around 11:30 AM Monday by Cloud’s mother, reporting a “possible overdose.” The patient was “already deceased” when they arrived. As of 5:13 PM on Monday, the Oakland Police Department confirmed that the cause of death is currently unknown and the case remains an “active death investigation.”
Cloud was best known for playing the fan-favorite character Fez in the first two seasons of HBO’s hit teen drama series Euphoria. “I was with some friends,” he said in an interview. “We were just hanging out.”
Born Conor Angus Cloud Hickey, he attended Oakland School of the Arts with Euphoria co-star Zendaya. Euphoria was his first acting job. He was cast while working at a restaurant in Brooklyn.
Cloud also appeared in 2021’s North Hollywood and 2023’s The Line and starred in various music videos. He was recently cast in Scream 6, a new horror movie currently in development by Universal Pictures.
“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” Cloud’s family issued a statement. “As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.
We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”
HBO recently shared a statement. “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
