[USER] Salv.E ‘The Depths’

Music has been a place of introspection and truth for [USER] Salv.E. Inventive soundscapes create an immersive, emotive world where the coastal, forested landscapes absorbs the feeling of loneliness, isolation amongst others that can’t be separated from our inner worlds. The Depths is where emotive depths and transparency meets the natural-inspired, hip-hop grunge aesthetic. The emotions are in the melodies and the sounds, being so intricately and intuitively woven together. His music draws you in, and in the process of contemplation, it seems to evoke your own emotional truth—something that you have been avoiding, something you need to think.

[USER] Salv.E definitely has an edge that makes his music very distinctive. His vulnerability and moodiness align with both Billie Eilish-inspired dark pop, while sonically drawn to lo-fi, angsty trip-hop with his own taste of sonic palettes and atmosphere blend into it. From an unconventional sonic enquiry “aLongTimeAgo” to the emotional hard-hitting “The Depths” to the introspective drive down “Rose” to a cinematic “Rinse,” The Depths is an album you should listen from beginning to end.

Read our interview below with [USER] Salv.E where we chat about his Oregon-inspired soundscapes and inspirations.

Punk Head: I love the unusual soundscapes and atmospheres in The Depths. How did you find your sound?

[USER] Salv.E: The tracks atmospheres are a reflection of Oregon's landscapes, specifically the Oregon coast and forests that are often covered in a thick layer of fog. Big inspirations of mine are artists such as Burial or XXYYXX which also have very distinct worlds. This has always been a huge deal to me. I want the artist to feel like they are part of the music as they listen.

PH: Can you tell me more about this album?

[USER] Salv.E: The Depths embodies primarily feelings of isolation and struggling with the feeling of never being enough. All of my music now and to come is modeled off of how I feel, right or wrong. I always aim to acknowledge my faults and use my music as a place to be introspective.

PH: Which song do you like the best and why?

[USER] Salv.E: It's hard to pick a favorite because I spent so much time and effort into making all of these tracks. At any one point I'd probably chose one over the other, but the one I think is probably the best is ‘Rose,’ mainly because of the visuals that go along with it, which can be seen on my YouTube channel @user_salv.e.

PH: What motivates you as an artist?

[USER] Salv.E: Music always encouraged me to grow, to care, and to learn. It's a driving force in my life, and I can attribute a lot of this to music I listened to growing up. I would just love to have that kind of impact on others. My music focuses on a lot of depressing subjects, but what it boils down to is trying to be better and to move forward through the hardest of times.

PH: What would you like to say to your fans out there?

[USER] Salv.E: Be well
