Jozie_ramone approaches a serious topic like depression and suicidal tendencies with caution, shedding light on the reality of these experiences while bringing a sense of hope from the perspective of someone who did make his way out.

“Bakura,” takes its name after the infamous “Yu-Gi-Oh!” character, who is known as the “evil spirit,” serves as a metaphoric depiction of depression. The Californian hip-hop rapper has a way of words that revolves around something impressionistic and poetic, yet overwhelmingly visual and sensuous.

“Tidal wave of the Black Sea,

Consuming me, drag me down to nothingness.

In the darkness, I became one with light.”

The vast emptiness meets an emotional overblown, which results in the explosion of light. Sonically, lyrically, “Bakura” has the heaviness within its introspection. “Bitter kiss from a mouth full of razor blades” is painfully raw and edgy yet it has perfectly articulated the indescribable feeling of being trapped in depression.
