MIDI Kittyy On the Making Of ‘Ignis (Future House Remix)’
Can you share any interesting or unique musical elements or production techniques used in 'Ignis (Future House Remix)?'
I consider myself a singer/songwriter first and a producer second, so I'm always happy to find third-party effects plugins for my production software that allow me to achieve a polished sound while I focus on the vocal performance. Maserati vocal plugin by Waves Audio is the main effect that I use on my vocals. Like the car with the same name, it supercharges the performance and adds a brightness that people listen for in a pop vocal. It didn't need much after that.
What did you enjoy most about making 'Ignis (Future House Remix)?'
I've always loved coming up with my own arrangements and versions of songs. Before I started producing original music, I would find ways to re-invent songs made by other artists to challenge the way people were used to hearing them and to help me stand out from other covers. I really loved being able to do that with my own song.
How does 'Ignis (Future House Remix)' fit into your overall artistic vision and what can listeners expect from you in the future?
Going forward I want to develop my sound in the styles of future and electro house. Those genres really give me the creative freedom to sing emotionally charged melodies and create lyrics that reflect my experience in the world, while still allowing people to connect with the music on the dance floor.
Can you share a project that holds particular significance to you? What made it memorable, and what challenges did you overcome?
My first song, Ignis, is very special to me because it represents a period, not that long ago, where the world seemed frozen, and I can really see now how far I have evolved from that time in my life. I reflect now on how isolated, lost, and stuck in a rut I felt, and the growth I have found in both my mental health and with the evolution of my music since then is indescribable. I had to work hard on myself and overcome three years of doubt and frustration to reach this newfound sense of clarity in my life.
Are there any specific venues or festivals that you dream of performing at?
It is my dream to headline a label night for my label, kttyy records, at the Amsterdam Dance Even. ADE is such a wonderful gathering of EDM musicians, both established and new, and it would be great to perform there for not only my fans but for fellow producers.
