Eyþór Alexander On the Making Of “I Need More”

What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "I Need More?"

I got the idea for the song just doodling on a piano at work. Then every once in a while I got a new idea and the song started to take shape. So the whole process actually took a few months. The lyrics didn't really pop in my head until I was almost finished recording the instrumental.

Can you share any interesting or unique musical elements or production techniques used in this "I Need More?"

A fun thing I did in the song was a "fake key change". The brigde goes a whole step lower so when the first key change happens, I'm actually just going up to the original key of A.

What do you like the best about this track?

I really like how all the elements fit togeather. Making a demo in your computer and recording the instruments are two very different things. I'm really happy with how it turned out and all fit togeather so nicely. Especially considering how complicated the track is.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?

I've been playing music since I can remember. At one time I remember wanting to quit but my parents made me keep going in music scool and I'm very thankful that I did. Now I teach piano and try to play with bands live as much as I can. I live in a fairly quiet town in Iceland which is nice, but as a musician I may decide later to go somplace with more local opportunities, so I'm excited to see where live takes me.

Are there any specific themes or messages that you aim to convey through your music?

Well I think there are both positive and negative parts about the messages of the lyrics. I think everybody should try to aim high and be ambitious. However unlike the man in the lyrics, I also think you should appreciate where you are in live at this moment and enjoy the things you have.
