MUNGMUN On the Making Of “GInternet Friends”

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind "Internet Friends" and the story it tells?

It is an exploration or deep dive into the negative feelings one can get in this social media age. It’s all a trap that any of us can fall into. The toxicity and unhealthy consumption within the digital realm can take a toll on us and affect how we view/treat ourselves and those around us.

What did you enjoy most about making "Internet Friends?"

Writing the lyrics! I remember when the idea was first conceived, I was just typing and typing into a Notes file. It was a stream of conscious, raw, unfiltered thoughts and feelings. It was truly a release. I kinda like how I wound up structuring the track and letting the story unfold the way it does.

What impact do you hope "Internet Friends" will have on your audience?

Despite the track having a not-so-positive plot, I hope it serves as a wake-up call or reminder for all. Cherish every moment and like out your REAL life!

Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they impacted your own sound?

I do have my go-to’s; Tyler, the Creator, Kanye West, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliot, Kendrick Lamar, Monica, Brandy, SZA, any jazz record…The list goes on. All the greats have had a hand in the development of my art and sound natural.

Are there any specific venues or festivals that you dream of performing at?

Grateful for any and every opportunity. For the sake of this exercise, I’m gonna dream big and be delulu for a sec. I’d love to be able to pack out some standard-size venues with people who truly get IT. It’d be ill to fulfill my arena tour fantasies (Shoutout to all the times I am choreographing routines at 2 am). I would cry if I ever got to play festivals like Camp Flog Gnaw or Coachella.
