They are not the kind of band that sparks inspiration by competing against each other or constantly proving who is most skilled, but here, they create a vibrant stadium-filling sound collectively and collaboratively. That’s the uplifting energy at very core of their music, and because of that, Galaxy Thief’s music creates memories, not just a song to listen and dance to.

It’s simply amazing how rich and textural they manage to achieve as a four-piece band. The splashing energy and lavishing texture that fills up your ears and souls usually takes an orchestra, but here, we have two guitars, one bass and one drum, and that is enough to create this immense soundscape.

Though “Reason” is a catchy singalong, as a band, Galaxy Thief is quite particular with each sound and addition. Each instrument plays a different part in the track and together they complete the whole picture. It’s calculated and perfect, from the sounds of two guitars to how the bass and drum would play out. “Reason” is high energy and intense in terms of form as the song rarely takes instrumental breaks, but it feels uplifting and healing with something new that always keep you hooked.

Lead singer Rhys Messenger’s smooth voice is coiled in sweet, wavy effects. From the very first word, he spreads those tickling feelings down to the end of every nerves, screaming of happiness. The guitarist George Bowerman is not someone with many words, but he seems to know the exact right moment to spice things up with a brief killer shred in the bridge. Instead of a dreadful melodic solo, he layers the climax of the song with bell-like strumming as he moves to the higher register of the guitar, creating a more intricate yet angsty feeling that is quite unlike any others.
