Daisy Gill “New York State Of Mind”

pop

Pop and soul always has a unique chemistry in their rich and flavorful history of musical encounters. The urban anthem has a touch of melancholia in that golden tone of retro pop. An attitude, a sense of coolness and personality makes it even more special. From the one and only Daisy Gill, “New York State of Mind” is stylishly dazzling and a banger that you can’t get enough.

The track evokes a Lana Del Ray sort of nostalgia though it is sonically very different. It’s evokes many feelings through a picturesque, mood-filled vocal palette, woven together in exuberant sonics and heart-thumping beats. Like Lana Del Ray, Daisy Gill, too is a vocalist who can’t be defined by one genre. “New York State of Mind” relates to the experience of working women, celebrates and empowers them.

What makes Daisy Gill stands out from others is her personality and unapologetic attitude. Her music doesn’t compromise, and it’s clear that she follows her musical instinct and owns her music. There are so many different routes the track could end up with. She could have chosen something more familiar or safer, but she chooses to be different, and in result, she brings such a vibrant sonic palettes that combine the cutting-edge modernity, retro pop and soul, and diversity all in one.

Daisy Gill is undoubtedly a talented vocalist who has a unique tone and versatile style. She has a natural instinct to deliver melodies with depth, story and characteristics, which makes her music always intriguing and eye-opening. One can only imagine how powerful her live performance could be. There is so much potential in her voice. One minute, she reminds you of the greatest vocalists in jazz, and another, she resembles Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse.

Even without other instruments, her voice alone can trigger vivid imageries and evoke deep emotions. Through her arrangement of songs, you see her taking an artistic direction that is different than what you’d expect. Bold, but that’s make her so special.
