Checker Bloom “Page Me”

The one immediate feeling after hearing the debut release “Page Me” from Checker Bloom is the urge to hear more from this band. The stadium-filled single intricately weaves a melancholy summer vibe with the youthful, angsty energy from garage rock, along with the immersive, identical surf rock personality. Dreamy, bouncy, nostalgic, and ever-lasting, while the jangling, fuzzy guitar soundscapes take you slightly away from this world.

There’s so many good energy there. It draws a tempered warmth of an urban town, while the dreamfulness takes you to a slightly stoned, psychedelic spin. The buzzing summer air accompanied by a long gaze into the horizon, recalling of a simpler time. The theme of existentialism meets the pursue of old technology, where “Page Me” is born.

“Put the pencil in the cassette; Rewind another sunset;
to times we haven’t had yet; And place it in the tape deck; Facing off with progress today; Moonwalking as I’m looking away.”

But there’s something that doesn’t match up here. Even though the song reflects upon existence in our modern day sitting, the spirit seems to be heading somewhere else. The thematic melodies hummed by the guitar carried a sense of in one cue and playfulness, bouncing on the street somewhere in Eastern European. The voice meets up with the guitar there in a casual, almost carelessly joyful pursue of something pure and happy.

It almost feels like what “Page Me” is searching for. An euphoric, sonic utopia that belongs to Checker Bloom, and now is shared with the rest of the world. Then it’s quite clear why the music urges to continue. Something that feels so good should never stop.
