Feature: Repeat Decodes “Not Enough”

What was the creative process like for this particular song?

“Not Enough” is the first single from the upcoming album (“Rat Race”), which is due in June. It is the most intense and energetic thing we've done so far. We spend more time on our songs than you might first think. It is the directness and the "live" feeling that we are looking for both when we write the material and then record it.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "Not Enough?"

Overall, the recording of this song and the entire album for the most part took place live. "Not Enough" is the one of the most energetic and aggressive songs on the album.

What impact do you hope "Not Enough" will have on your audience?

“Not Enough" continues on our previous track, a two-minute explosion of overdriven guitars, propelling bass, and aggressive drums, all with a "hook". We hope that the audience will enjoy this in a live setting!

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

Punk/stonerrock trio Repeat from Sweden released their debut album “Repeat” last autumn. The album got praise from tastemaker media both in Sweden and internationally.

We were pleasantly surprised by the attention the debut album received. Since we already had a number of additional songs more or less finished, we immediately went back to the studio, once again with Joakim Lindberg as producer. The result was nine new songs, at a total of eighteen minutes. We really prefer the short format and most of the album was recorded in live takes.

Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?

We find inspiration everywhere around us! We are experimenting in the areas of stoner rock, punk and maybe post-hardcore. We have more lyrics this time, and the album is very much a self-reflection. We continue to confront the themes we hinted at in the last record, – self-doubt, distrust and how to fight it. Overall, Rat Race is a more cohesive record than the last.
