5 Q&A With Trav B Ryan

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind "Orange and Blue Skies (Knicks For Life) Feat. Rxdeboy" and the story it tells?

I’m a huge Knicks fan so. Like die hard. So I decided to make a theme song about them and give them their flowers. After all the years of being a bad basketball team, they are finally good. I thought it was time to shed some light on that and give them their love. They deserve it. I also wanted to make an ode to the fans. Let them celebrate themselves. They are a huge part of the Knicks success as well.

Were there any challenges or breakthrough moments during the songwriting process for this song?

Challenges no but I must say creating the song made me appreciate the team more. It helped me put things in perspective and made me realize how hard it is to perform well under the pressure of New York City. They seem to take it on the chin every night and leave their blood sweat and tears on the floor.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this track?

I remember getting teary eyed while writing and recording the song. It made me reflect on the pain and disappointment I felt as a fan of the Knicks all these years and it touched a nerve with me. It was a very emotional process for me.

Can you share a bit about your musical background and the journey that led you to where you are today?

I am a musician from Brooklyn NY. I have been making music for about 20 years now. I have performed all around America. I love creating music about things that are considered outside the box. Whether it’s for comic book characters, zodiac signs, my favorite sports team, you name it. I love it all.

Are there any specific themes or messages that you aim to convey through your music?

I just want to give flowers to people that deserve it with my music. I want you to feel something deeply when you listen to me. I want the world to tap into their emotional side and with that make the world a better place.
